Concept
バルセロナで受けたFood Techのレクチャーにインスプレーションを受けてできた作品。
料理中の音をサンプリングして再構成し、食べる前に短いストーリーと音に触れることで、
その一皿の料理が記憶に残るような体験をつくるための実験プロジェクト。
This piece was created after attending a series of Food Tech lectures in Barcelona.
By sampling and re-composing the sounds of cooking, it invites the listener to encounter a short story and a piece of music before eating — a small experiment in shaping a dining experience that lingers in memory.
Behind the Scenes
スペインのバルセロナに住んでいた時、食文化の思想家であるJohn Hutt氏から、約3週間直接FoodTechに関するレクチャーを受ける機会に恵まれた。
シェフでもあるJohnのレクチャーは、とても示唆に富んでいた。単なる歴史的な食文化の背景を学ぶだけでなく（それだけでも十分面白いのだが）、食における「オーセンティック」とは何か、Food Techの可能性と問題点は何か、などなど、刺激的なトピックが多かった。当時、スタートアップの世界にどっぷりと浸かり、とても疲弊していた自分にとっては、Johnのレクチャーは学びを心から楽しめる癒しの時間だった。
最終日には、「食のデジタル体験を提案せよ」というシンプルな課題が出された。インド出身のデザイナーであるSonal Srivastavaと、ロシア出身のデジタルクリエイターであるMasha Sredinaとチームを組み、「食べる前のひとときをどうしたら楽しくできるか」を手がかりに、このプロジェクトを考えた。
While living in Barcelona, I had the opportunity to take part in an intensive three-week lecture series on Food Tech led by food theorist John Hutt.
His talks, grounded in both culinary practice and critical thought, explored not only the historical background of food culture, but also questions such as what “authenticity” in food really means, and the possibilities and contradictions of Food Tech. At the time, I was deeply immersed in the startup world and mentally exhausted, and these lectures became a rare space where learning felt genuinely restorative.
On the final day, we were given a simple assignment: propose a digital food experience.
Together with Indian designer Sonal Srivastava and Russian digital creator Masha Sredina, I began to think about how the moment before a meal could be made more playful — and this project was born.
Creative Process
- Sonalがインドの料理であるPanipuri（パニプリ）を調理
- 調理中の音を加工・サンプリングして楽曲を制作
- 「料理に不慣れなインドのプリンセス」という物語を設定
- 物語に合わせて楽曲と、Mashaのデザインしたイラストを組み合わせ、 食べる前に体験する作品《PanIc Princess》として完成
- Sonal cocked Panipuri, a traditional Indian dish.
- The sounds of cooking were recorded, edited, and sampled to create the music.
- A story was imagined about an Indian princess who is cooking for the first time in her life.
- The music was paired with illustrations designed by Masha, forming a small pre-meal experience titled Panic Princess.
